Conor Benn will be immediately reinstated into the WBC rankings
the WBC announced
they believe Benn did not intentionally ingest the fertility drug that doubles as a testosterone booster, and will therefore be reinstating him into their rankings immediately. The boxing organisation concluded: “The WBC found that: there was no conclusive evidence that Mr. Benn engaged in intentional or knowing ingestion of Clomiphene.“ there were no failures in the procedures related to sample collection, sample analysis, or violations of Mr. Benn’s B Sample rights that would justify questioning or invalidating the Adverse Finding.
“ Mr. Benn’s documented and highly-elevated consumption of eggs during the times relevant to the sample collection, raised a reasonable explanation for the Adverse Finding.” While this is a massive step in the right direction in terms of Benn clearing his name, he could still face a boxing ban if UK Anti-Doping does not come to the same conclusion as the WBC.
