Willie McDines is one of many in his family to caddie at Turnberry over the decades.
A long-serving caddie master has retired after a career spanning four decades at Ayrshire’s renowned Trump Turnberry.
In recent years, McDines’ daughter and grandson have followed in his footsteps, tying the family to one of golf’s most storied venues for five generations. Beginning his career caddying in 1973, Willie has witnessed all four Open Championships to grace Turnberry’s legendary Ailsa course and was Caddie Master for three of those: Greg Norman’s thumping triumph in 1986, Nick Price’s thrilling victory in 1994 and the 2009 tournament that saw Stewart Cink win his first Major at the expense of five-time Open winner Tom Watson.
Ricky Hall, Director of Golf at Trump Turnberry, said: “We are fortunate that Willie chose to spend so much of his career here at Turnberry.
