The queen of the controversial shoe is at it again.
Of course, the classic gorpcore Hoka Hopara is not the first – nor will it be the last –to become a favourite among fashion people. They’re following in the footsteps of the rugged Salomon sneakers and Vibram Five Fingers toe shoes, the latter of which appeared on the Balenciaga runways. There are also the more crunchy options, such as Birkenstocks and Tevas, and in the earthy vein, Salt-Water sandals.
The Hopara is undeniably versatile, though. They’re seasonless, and the interesting shape is a step up from the standard sneaker or even sandal. There’s enough coverage for colder days, but it’s breathable enough for the summer, too.
