Hundreds of people from the Belvoir community in South Belfast enjoyed their first family funday since the start of the Covid pandemic at the weekend.

Belvoir community in South BelfastThe Cultural Family Fun Day took place at the Ardnavally Scout Centre on Saturday and was organised by the Belvoir Area Residents Group who were excited to bring people together for a day.and the organisers were thrilled with the success they had as young families enjoyed the petting farms, pony rides, climbing wall and bouncy castles.Over 400 people attended on the day which also saw performances from the Bright Light dancers and the Millar Memorial Flute Band.

BARG told Belfast Live that the event was completely free for residents in an effort to make it as inclusive as possible and remove any barriers so that everyone from the area could attend.said:"We had a great time at our Cultural Family Fun Day with over 400 people attending across the day. It was our first large scale event since 2019 due to Covid and everyone was very excited to join in the fun.

"We had performances from Bright Lights dancers and Millar Memorial Flute Band, along with inflatables, a BBQ, petting farm, pony & cart rides, climbing wall and stalls from the PSNI , Royal Irish regiment and Orange Heritage museum. "The event was completely free of charge. BARG never charge for anything during events as we believe everyone should be able to attend, and at times something that seems like a small cost to some can break the bank for others and stop them from participating in community events."
