HONG KONG – Beijing’s government on Thursday announced that it would cover 16 types of assisted reproduction technology under the city’s health care system from July 1, the latest move by the authorities to boost China’s flagging birth rate.
China’s National Health Commission last August issued guidance to provinces on reforming policies to support fertility rates. Concerned about China’s rapid ageing, government political advisers proposed in March that single and unmarried women should have access to egg freezing and IVF treatment, among other services.
