Mike Judge teases that the upcoming BeavisandButthead revival could lead to more spin-offs down the line.
Creator Mike Judge says the Beavis and Butt-Head revival could set up spinoffs in a similar style to Norman Lear's hit sitcoms. In addition to creating the series, Judge also directed and starred as the two titular teenage slackers as they attend their high school in the American Southwest and cause mayhem in their small town in an effort to pick up women.
Originally premiering in 1993, Beavis and Butt-Head became a pop culture staple in its seven seasons on MTV, receiving both rave and negative reviews from critics for its satire and lewd humor. The show's popularity would see Judge branch out into various other forms of media, including the theatrical film Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, which received critical acclaim and was a box office hit, grossing over $63.
Viacom seems to be confident in Beavis and Butt-Head's future, having ordered a two-season revival at Comedy Central and the Paramount+ movie sequel that spinoffs do seem a strong possibility should either project prove to be a success. It also isn't the only animated show of Judge's to be making a comeback as the creator recently confirmed a King of the Hill revival is currently in the works at Bandera Entertainment.
