On Sunday at 1:54 p.m. an excessive heat warning was issued by the National Weather Service valid from Monday noon until Tuesday 8 p.m. for Franklin, Perry, Dauphin, Lebanon, Cumberland, Adams, York and Lancaster counties.

"Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events," states the weather service.Make sure to drink plenty of fluids.Stay out of the sun, and make sure to check up on relatives and neighbors.Never leave young children and pets unattended in vehicles, especially when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures within minutes.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas for outdoor workers.In emergencies, call 911 for immediate assistance.
