Breakfast presenter Sarah Julian will be hosting the prime-time morning slot for BBC Radio WM in Birmingham

A popular BBC Radio Nottingham presenter will soon leave the station to host her new show in the West Midlands. Breakfast presenter Sarah Julian has been chosen as the next presenter of the prime-time morning slot for BBC Radio WM in Birmingham.

Sarah joined the broadcaster in 1997 and will be a familiar voice to many Nottingham residents. She was one of eight BBC journalists recognised for their interviews with former Prime Minister Liz Truss after the Government's chaotic mini-budget in late 2022. Sarah was honoured with the Broadcasting Press Guild Jury Prize last year. As reported by Birmingham Live, speaking about her new role, which begins on Tuesday, May 7, she said she was "really excited".She added: "I can’t wait to bring to life all of the stories and personalities here. This is such a vibrant and exciting part of the UK.

"I’m looking forward to getting right to the concerns, joys and passions of the people who live here. It’ll make the 3.30am alarm worth it. It’s going to be bostin’." Chris Pegg, acting executive editor for BBC Radio WM, said: “Sarah comes with tons of experience, she is funny, an amazing journalist and very creative – everything audiences need to help them navigate their busy mornings across Birmingham and the Black Country.”To try and make things a little easier, we have now launched a new WhatsApp community to bring you the latest news and headlines straight to your phone.
