Bay Area self-driving delivery startup Nuro is conducting its second round of layoffs in six months.
In November, the company laid off 300 people, or a. Those layoffs, according to TechCrunch, were a result of pandemic overhiring — a common sentiment shared among companies conducting layoffs late last year.
Affected employees, according to a company spokesperson, will receive 12 weeks' salary and two additional weeks for employees with more than two years’ tenure. Workers will also receive a bonus, equity vesting through July, COBRA coverage through September and $250 “toward purchase” of a Google Chromebook laptop.
“This change weighs on us most,” the blog post from Zhu and Ferguson reads. “We are deeply inspired by the dedication and passion of our colleagues and every step we take after this will be with gratitude for the hard work and contributions of the colleagues who will be leaving us.”
