One month after Darrell Sutherland stepped down at BartramTrail, the Bears have hired the second head football coach in school history.
Bartram Trail finally has its successor to Darrell Sutherland, selecting Cory Johns as just the second football coach in school history on Thursday morning.
"The first thing that needs to be addressed is when your replacing someone of Darrell's stature, you've got to find someone with impeccable character," Bartram Trail athletic director Ben Windle said."It was also crucial for us to find someone with high football acumen, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Thirdly, you've got to treat kids the right way. I think Cory ticked all the boxes.
"When this job came open, I knew this was it," Johns said."This program has been very successful for a long time, so there is no reason to mass-production change things just to do it." "It felt like it was the right time," Sutherland said last month."I’ve been blessed to be a part of this program for a long time. I’m just honored to coach with the guys I’ve been able to coach with and coach the young men I’ve been able to coach."
