A brave cashier refused to give in when a man who said he had a gun demanded cash in a terrifying raid at a Barclays bank. Masked Liam Jones burst into the branch in Llandudno, North Wales and threatened to shoot the person behind the counter if she didn’t give him cash.
Prosecutor Ember Wong said he had a cap on, his parka hood was up and he had a mask over his mouth. Ms Wong said Jones pushed a note under the counter towards cashier Karen Starr which stated: “Give me all your money or I’ll shoot you.” The prosecutor told the court: “He kept his hand in his right pocket as if he was holding a gun. she knew a gun would not fit into his pocket. He was holding his hand in a gun-shape and his hand was relaxing.”
Ms Wong said: “She became more confident and more determined not to give the defendant any money.” Other staff fled to a safe room in the bank.
