For the first time in six years, Ireland have made it through to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest with non-binary contestant Bambie Thug and their 'witchcraft' song entry
The Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals kicked off in Malmö, Sweden and fans from Ireland have rejoiced as Bambie Thug has become the first Irish Eurovision Song Contest finalist since 2018.
Bambie has a chance to take Ireland to the win on Saturday 11 May - which the country has not achieved since 1996. A third wrote: “#BambieThug well done, you have done Ireland proud”. Another added: “The performance was magnificent. IRELAND ARE IN THE FINAL. Now go and win it Bambie Thug.” One Eurovision fan wrote: "Had high hopes for the UK @Eurovision this year with Olly Alexander but it sounded a little ropey at the semi-final just now on @BBCRadio2," while another viewer simply remarked, "#eurovision Shockingly poor singing there from Olly Alexander.".
