Planners refuse application which would have reduced the already scarce greenspace in Kilmaurs.

A Kilmaurs resident’s bid to turn a piece of the village’s scarce green space into a driveway has been knocked back.

“Allowing a strip for additional parking would alleviate some of the risks taking up to an additional thee cars from the street for me and my visitors. Removing cars from the street would give clear vision to drivers, cyclists and pedestrians and improve safety within the street.” Ms Sutton claimed that a planning officer had ‘witnessed some of the road safety issues first hand’ during a visit in June. She said that this included her neighbour being unable to turn into his drive due to a car parked outside her own home.

His objection said: “Every emergency vehicle that has required access to Woodhill Place in the 32 years I have been resident here, has done so with ease. Indeed, on at least two occasions I was driving one.” He added that the green space should be preserved for all residents a point backed by planning officers who stated that Kilmaurs already has a ‘deficit of quality open spaces’.
