Amanda Harvey, from Ayr, works for specialist child and youth care charity Kibble.
An Ayrshire care worker is urging people to consider a career in child and youth care - after giving up a 25-year stint in retail.
The initiative is nominated for Best Apprenticeship Programme in the Investors in People awards that will be announced in November. “I love that within the trainee programme you start with a group of like-minded people who are all going through the same process, all learning together and embarking on a new career at the same time. There’s comfort in knowing we’re all learning together.
Those who complete the 12-month training will be guaranteed an interview for a role with a salary over £27k per year and have further career development opportunities. Previous recruits to the programme include engineers, stay-at-home parents and former retail workers.
