Luke Ayling swapped Leeds United for Middlesbrough in the January transfer window but the defender is due to return to Elland Road at the end of the 2023/24 season
Michael Carrick insists Luke Ayling is focused on firing Middlesbrough up the Championship rather than his own future. It remains unclear where Ayling will be plying his trade next season, with the Leeds United defender out of contract in the summer.
When asked about Ayling's future, Boro head coach Carrick said: "You're always playing for something and as it stands at the moment that's obviously what's next."Looking at him, that's not at the forefront of his mind at all. He's all in, he's desperate to do well and win games for us. We'll see, that will play out how it's going to play out over the next few months.
"I think Bill has shown his experience really," said Carrick. "He's been in this situation, he's seen it, he knows what it takes.
