Debbie Bennett started her own funeral directors in 2017, having worked in the industry since 1999
It’s only when you stop and reflect that you realise just how important funeral directors are in each and every community in the country.
That’s why she was awarded Business Person of the Year at the Echo's Regional Business Awards in 2021 and Best Funeral Director in Knowsley in 2023; you don’t get a second chance at a funeral, so each one has to be right first time. "I pushed myself to the limit to start the business in the community within which I lived,” she told the Echo. “I had no money left after I opened, and I had two part-time funeral arrangers helping me.
“At Debbie Bennett Funeral Directors, community involvement is at the core of our values. We are dedicated to giving back to the very communities we serve, recognising the importance of supporting and uplifting those around us during both times of celebration and moments of need.” The company also supports a number of businesses, football clubs and charities across Merseyside. Each year, it helps out with the Liverpool Taxi Drivers Children In Care Outing Fund, which was founded by Bernie Buxton MBE nearly 40 years ago, putting on four limousines to take underprivileged children on a much-appreciated trip to Southport.
