The 55-year-old man was shot to death by Deptford Police on Sunday afternoon.
The incident, which is under investigation by the Attorney General’s office, began when police responded to a home on Fox Run Road in Deptford Township in response to a 911 call.
Officers encountered Daniel Nevius Sr., 55, of Sicklerville, at the residence, according to a release issued Tuesday afternoon by the attorney general.Nevius was shot at 1:22 p.m. and medical personnel responded to the scene, officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:55 p.m. Officials have not described the nature of the 911 call or provided details about the police interaction with Nevius.Under state guidelines, the Attorney General’s office investigates all cases in which a person dies from police use of force.
