Según los reportes, el joven de 18 años estuvo dentro de la escuela primaria entre 40 minutos y una hora antes de que un agente de la Patrulla Fronteriza de EE. UU. lo matara a tiros y respondiera a una llamada de refuerzo. El tirador se atrincheró en un salón de clases y abrió fuego, según informaron las autoridades anteriormente.
“Queremos responder a todas sus preguntas. Queremos darles el por qué. Ese es nuestro trabajo. Así que dennos tiempo”, explicó. “Los oficiales estaban allí, los oficiales que llegaron al inicio, cuando recibieron disparos. Al principio no ingresaron debido a los disparos que recibieron, pero tenemos oficiales que pidieron refuerzos adicionales”, comentó Escalon. “Entonces, durante ese tiempo que están haciendo esas llamadas para traer ayuda para resolver este problema y detenerlo de inmediato, también están evacuando al personal”.
Escalon no se refirió a esos informes, pero dijo que la información está fluyendo, que aún se están realizando entrevistas y análisis, y que se proporcionarán actualizaciones a la prensa.
