It is unclear how long Auburn senior small forward Allen Flanigan will be away from the team. Coach Bruce Pearl indicated that there was “no time frame right now.”
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound wingman has played in 80 games for Auburn over the last three seasons, averaging 7.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game for his career. Flanigan enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign in 2020-21, when he averaged 14.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game while starting all 27 games for the Tigers.
He appeared in 22 games after his return last season, making 20 starts but averaging just 6.3 points per game on 39.5 percent shooting overall and a meager 20.5 percent from 3-point range. He also averaged 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game for an Auburn team that climbed to No. 1 in the AP poll for the first time in program history, went wire-to-wire to win the SEC regular-season title and earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
but ultimately withdrew his name from the draft pool and opted to return to Auburn for his senior season.
