Jose Altuve and Yordan Alvarez are both No. 1, but Jeremy Peña didn't make the rankings.
The Astros' Jose Altuve , Kyle Tucker and Yordan Alvarez , shown here celebrating during the 2022 American League Division Series against the Mariners, all made the MLB Network's Top 10 position rankings.and we're still two weeks away from spring training, so that's left plenty of airtime to fill for anyone trying to talk baseball.
Of the 10 positions — every starting position, plus relievers — the Astros and Mets had eight players each make the rankings. The Braves were next with seven, while the Cardinals, Dodgers and Phillies had six apiece. The A's, Tigers and Rockies are the only teams to not have a single player in any of the Top 10 rankings.
The only Astros position players to not make the Top 10 were shortstop Jeremy Peña and catcher Martín Maldonado. No Astros starting pitcher cracked the Top 10 either. According to the rankings, the Astros actually have two of the game's best 10 left fielders with Yordan Alvarez ranked No. 1 and Michael Brantley at No. 8. Jose Altuve was the only other Astros player ranked No. 1 at his position.
