“I have to admit they were pretty good swings,” Altuve said. “That’s the kind of swing I want to put on the ball more often. Each of Altuve’s three hits against Greene were on 99-mph fastballs. He struck multiple extra-base hits for the first time this season. He passed Craig Biggio on the Astros’ list of most games with four-plus hits and trails only Miguel Cabrera among active players.
Altuve said this minutes after Astros manager Dusty Baker said he intends to rest the second baseman in Sunday’s series finale against the Reds. Baker said he’d planned the off day for Altuve prior to Saturday’s game and would hold to it.
