The Astros survived a ninth-inning rally attempt and beat the Rangers 5-2 Sunday to pick up a series win at Minute Maid Park and improve to 27-15 on the season.

Three strikeouts in his first inning against the Rangers on Sunday raised some eyebrows. The next five-plus innings may have revived his season.
Before Sunday, the last Astros pitcher to collect 10 strikeouts in a game was Lance McCullers Jr. on July 16, 2021 against the White Sox. The last time Urquidy had done so was Sept. 11, 2019 against the A’s. The Astros had provided Urquidy 9.09 runs of support on average during his first seven starts. He made do with half that on Sunday. The Astros battered Rangers starter Taylor Hearns for four earned runs on six hits over 4 2/3 innings.
