Dozens of Asda workers have taken to a Glasgow store to fight for equal pay.
Organised by GMB, the demonstration was part of an ongoing dispute between the supermarket and employees as they claim men in distribution centres make £2 more per hour than women in retail.
The crowd gathered at the Govan superstore, waving flags, chanting and handing out stickers to shoppers to support their cause. Rober Deavy, GMB organiser, said:"We are having to fight for female workers' pay. This is a discriminatory pay policy, they are paying the men who work in retail, key workers, £2 less an hour than the man working in distribution.
"They would rather spend millions of pounds fighting this, spending it on lawyers rather than paying their own workers what they deserve.will be making sure we are all fed and comfortable during Christmas and Asda will not give them the correct pay.Readers’ comments: You are personally liable for the content of any comments you upload to this website, so please act responsibly.
