⚠️ Barriers are being erected along the River Severn as many parts of England and Wales brace for flooding today
Replying to a suggestion that the wet weather was welcome after the UK experienced a dry summer, Mr Curtin added: “Certainly helps the drought situation – but hopefully not at the expense of people’s homes being flooded. I’m a big fan of a steady drizzle!”
Forecasters say there is the potential for some flooding of homes and businesses and interruption to power supplies. West Mercia Police said it had already been called out to help rescue stranded drivers, and called for people not to enter floodwater in their vehicles.Meteorologist Alex Deakin described the overall forecast for Tuesday as “a rather dull and damp affair” featuring “gusty winds”.
