UPDATE: Armed barricaded suspect now in custody following hours-long standoff in Santa Clarita

, the suspect had been barricaded inside a white vehicle in the 19300 block of Newhouse Street in Canyon Country since around 6:30 a.m. Authorities took the man into custody just after noon. Delight Street and Whites Canyon Road continue to be closed, and people are urged to avoid the area, as the investigation contoinues.
Homes along the 19000 block of Newhouse Street were evacuated as a precaution. Evacuees were taken to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 19513 Drycliff Street. There were no lockdowns and schools within the area are in session, authorities said.
