Matthew Ferry died at HMP Edinburgh on March 25 at the age of 33. Ferry was jailed in 2015 for his part in a terrifying raid on Laing the Jeweller in Edinburgh the same year.
Terrifying CCTV footage of the robbery shows Ferry storming the shop on the city's George Street before pointing his gun at frightened staff. He then went on to ransack the shop window before fleeing the scene with a rucksack full of goods. Another staff member was alerted by shouting before Ferry went on to hand him the rucksack, demanding him to also “Put the f---ing watches in the f---ing bag or I’ll shoot you.” When armed police moved in to detain Ferry at his grandmother's house they discovered a Mach 10 submachine gun and ammunition for the weapon along with heroin with a street value of more than £50,000.
