Officers on patrol found five self-loading pistols and ammunition
Armed officers set up a cordon at the junction of East Prescot Road and Somerford Road, Dovecot, after making the discovery. inside a backpack, at around 8pm, on Wednesday, November 8.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul McVeigh said: "We hope that the discovery of these firearms in our community reiterates that the possession of dangerous weapons in our communities will not be tolerated in Merseyside. Our officers immediately respond to incidents involving guns and dangerous weapons in our regions and is actively working to make our regions a safer place to live and work.
