Gray Taylor has been helping sick and injured foxes for the last 10 years
At a small lock-up in Hoylake, a close-knit team of eight animal lovers are dedicated to the care of one of Britain's most resourceful wild animals - the red fox.
"We found the majority of calls were coming from the Wirral. Foxes are very territorial animals, and with it being a peninsula, the territories here are quite densely populated, and that invites issues when it comes to mange. Close quarters, the more urban environment and slightly warmer weather creates one big cauldron of ingredients. We've treated, in the last two years, over 1,000 foxes.
"We're just touching on cub season now, and we're going to be absolutely rammed with cubs. Later on, there will be dispersal season, where cubs born in the spring are out finding their own territory. Because they're going to unfamiliar places, there's a lot of accidents and injuries."
