Russia is considering 'de-ratifying' the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, causing concern about the potential resurgence of nuclear tests and the future of international arms control.

But the agreement expires in 2026 and cannot be extended. Unless a successor treaty can be agreed upon and ratified, there will be no limits on the countries' arsenals after that year.
