Archie Battersbee's family given new hope minutes before life support to be turned off
ARCHIE Battersbee's parents have launched another Supreme Court appeal just minutes before his life support was due to be switched off.Archie Battersbee suffered brain damage in a 'freak accident' and has been unresponsive ever sinceBut barely 30 minutes after his life support was meant to be turned off, the Supreme Court confirmed an eleventh hour appeal had been lodged.
The bid means that three judges will now examine the application to allow the United Nations Commission for the Rights of People of Disability to consider their complaint. The Supreme Court said: "The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom has today, 2nd August 2022, received a Permission to Appeal application in the case of Archie Battersbee.is a 12 year old boy who has been in a deep coma since 7 April 2022. His parents, Hollie Dance and Paul Battersbee, wish to challenge the decision to withdraw life–sustaining treatment.
