The Planning Committee at Belfast City Council has approved the construction of two new scientific research buildings in South Belfast. The buildings will be part of Queen’s University Belfast’s iREACH Health innovation centre and the QUB Institute of Research Excellence for Advanced Clinical Healthcare. The existing Russell Court buildings will be demolished to make way for the new buildings.

Approval has been given for two major new scientific research buildings in South Belfast . The Planning Committee at Belfast City Council this week approved an application for Queen’s University Belfast’s new iREACH Health innovation centre at the bottom of the Lisburn Road.

Elected representatives green-lighted the demolition of the existing Russell Court buildings and the redevelopment of an existing surface car park to accommodate two new buildings, five storey and four storey, for the QUB Institute of Research Excellence for Advanced Clinical Healthcare, including landscaping, parking, and servicing.
