A new patent suggests that a future Apple Watch will have sensors that will radically change the wearable’s capabilities.
, covers miniature temperature sensing devices, which can be incorporated into portable or wearable electronic devices. This could also include other wearables like AirPods or an Augmented Reality headset.
The patent, titled “Miniature External Temperature Sensing Device for Estimating Subsurface Tissue Temperatures” was revealed today, December 30, 2021, but was originally filed in June 2020. The patent says: “The wearable device can contain various sensing devices for determining one or more physiological parameters of a user such as temperature, heart rate, blood oxygen level, and so on. The sensing devices can include a temperature sensing device, which may be used to measure a temperature of a user. Traditional temperature sensing devices may take a relatively long time to take a measurement of a user and/or only be able to detect a skin surface temperature of a user.
