Ribble Valley apartment plan blasted as 'anomalous and discordant' - before being thrown out by council
Council bosses have rejected plans to build an apartment block and business centre in Clitheroe amid fears it would be 'anomalous, discordant, incongruous, poorly designed and unsympathetic'.
Highways officers at Lancashire County Council said they did not feel the proposed development 'fully assesses the highway impact of the proposed development' and the Environment Agency objected to the plans on the grounds that the flood risk had not fully been taken into account.
In the plans James Alpe Ltd revealed: "What is proposed is to redevelop the site by removing the existing industrial buildings and replacing them with a two storey office building and a three storey building for flats. The new buildings will be of stone construction with slate roofs, set in a car park and servicing area, with central access from Peel Street with landscape grounds for the flats.
