The plans could come into force very soon
Anyone who plans to visit Wales needs to know a tourist tax for Wales could be in force from as soon as 2027.
In the eight page document, it said councils in Wales will be given the ability to "charge a visitor levy on overnight stays in their communities". It said This contribution will be paid by visitors and invested in sustainable tourism, helping to grow our economy, support our communities and preserve the beauty of Wales for future generations".
Councils in Wales will then be able to decide how best to spend the money. The leaflet details the proposed timeline for how the tax will become law.
