No matter a young person’s race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender or social class, if they’re strong enough and committed enough, they can wear the uniform and progress equally with every other recruit.
My father was a Marine. When he died in 1987, I inherited one of his dog tags that I’ve held onto like a talisman ever since. Now it hangs on Tony’s lanyard as he blazes his own trail forward.
