Ange Postecoglou hopes Tottenham WILL be fighting for the title next season as he bullishly declared 'that's why I came to the club'.
There won't be any silverware heading for Spurs this campaign after League and FA Cup exits - but the 59-year-old - who won five trophies from a possible six at Parkhead domestically including a Treble in his final season - insists if he doesn't feel like his team can be fighting with the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal next season for league glory then he doesn't know why he is at the club.
"As somebody said to me last week, ''just do your job Ange' and my job is to come here and try to bring success. And if you don't think you're going to be in the title race in 12 months' time, then I don't know why I'm here." Ange has already pointed to the examples of Manchester United and Newcastle, who took third and fourth last term, as teams who have failed to kick on after booking a spot at Europe's top table. The pair are sitting sixth and eighth respectively at this moment in time and a fair points difference behind Spurs and Villa.
