Speaking on Friday, during a press conference announcing James Vowles’ move from Mercedes to Williams as its new team principal, Mercedes' F1 boss Toto Wolff said, “Cadillac and GM—that’s a statement. Formula 1 and the majority of teams have so far been hesitant to the prospect of new entrants owing to the financial structure of the sport. That is because the prize money would be distributed between more parties. Formula 1 has a $200 million fee, commonly known as the anti-dilution fee, to be paid by a new entrant and split between the existing 10 teams as effective compensation.
