Renewal talks for And Just Like That season 2 are reportedly on hold in the midst of the scandal surrounding Mr. Big actor Chris Noth. The series, which picks up the stories of three of the four main characters of Sex and the City , had a tumultuous few weeks after debuting on December 9, 2021. The end of the premiere episode saw Chris Noth's romantic lead Mr. Big die of a heart attack after a fateful Peloton ride.
After that climactic scene, Peloton's stock dropped precipitously, and the exercise bike company responded cheekily by featuring Noth in a commercial for their product. However, this discourse was immediately shrouded by allegations that surfaced about Noth's on-set behavior. Multiple women came forward to accuse him of sexual assault and inappropriate workplace behavior, causing Peloton to instantly pull the ad in response.
HBO Max has not shared the data on audience viewership of the remaining episodes of the series, which has dealt with the impact of Mr. Big's death on Sarah Jessica Parker's character Carrie Bradshaw but has not featured Noth, even in flashback footage. However, it is probable that the show's viewership has also been affected by these accusations. The company may be waiting for the smoke to clear before deciding what their next move is.
Thankfully, at least on a story level, it will be quite easy for And Just Like That to move forward without Noth. Although killing off the character had been the plan for the franchise since the original script for the scrapped Sex and the City 3 film, that plot point came just in time to remove the actor from the set and not tie him directly into the show's overall arc.
