Record View writes that Anas Sarwar is correct to question whether anyone earning £28k or more in Scotland pays more tax than elsewhere in the UK, but he and his party must explain how else they would raise much-needed funds for public services.
How we maintain public services in an age of shrinking budgets is one of the most important political questions of our age. It’s in everyone’s interests the NHS can continue to function and schools deliver the high standards expected of them.
But the situation is now that anyone earning £28,000 or above in Scotland now pays more tax than if they lived elsewhere in the UK. That’s more than one million workers. Hate law a mess Most sensible people want to see robust laws in place to deal with hate crime. Attacking people - physically or verbally - just because of their race, religion or sexuality should be a crime.
Police Scotland insisting it will investigate every single complaint – no matter how ridiculous – while other crimes are ignored has angered many. The recording of “non-crime hate incidents” has also raised serious questions about freedom of speech.
