Allman provided the first live news report on the assassination of President John F. Keith Conlon, president and CEO of Allie Beth Allman and Associates, said he worked with Allman for about 15 years and described him as a mentor who was witty and kind, and despite his many achievements, was humble and approachable. “I remember over the years laughing out loud at some of them and thinking, ‘where does he come up with this stuff?’” Allman said. “I forgot how many I’ve saved over the years. Even if it’s five or six words, it shows how much he cared that you’re being successful. He didn’t care if the closing was big or small.”
Allman graduated from Highland Park High School in 1950 and made multiple contributions to Highland Park ISD later in life, including serving on the district’s strategic planning committee. In 1989, the school district named Allman the recipient of the Blanket Award for his leadership and community service. He remained involved in the University Park and Highland Park communities.and worked the route through his college years at Southern Methodist University.
His other achievements include co-founding and serving on the boards of multiple community organizations. The Lee Park and Arlington Hall Conservancy, Park Cities Historical Society, the Old Red Museum are among the organizations that Allman worked with.
