British tourists have been asked to 'stay away'
British men hoping to visit Amsterdam for a weekend of partying are being asked to stay away by officials.
Aimed at males aged 18-35, the online advertisement will appear to those who look up terms like "stag party Amsterdam", "pub crawl Amsterdam" or "cheap hotel Amsterdam". Launching in the UK first this week, it will then expand to the Netherlands and other EU countries. Deputy Mayor Sofyan Mbarki said: “Visitors will remain welcome, but not if they misbehave and cause nuisance. In that case we as a city will say: rather not, stay away.
"Amsterdam is a metropole and crowds and bustle are inherent features, but to keep our city liveable we now have to choose for restriction instead of irresponsible growth.”
