‘Several “American Idol” veterans will return to the reality series as mentors during Hollywood Week in Season 20, and an “Idol” winner from Alabama will be among them.
Studdard, 43, put Birmingham on the reality TV map with his “Idol” win during the show’s early years, and his shouts of “205!” during the competition -- the area code for Birmingham -- made his hometown proud.teach at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
. Starting this fall, Studdard will teach two courses there, one on the commercial side of the music business and one on the performing side, according to a news release. Other mentors for “Idol” Hollywood Week will include Lauren Alaina , David Cook , Haley Reinhard , Lee DeWyze and Jordin Sparks . Chayce Beckham, the Season 19 champ, will be on hand, as well.
Hollywood Week, a fast-moving phase of the competition, tests the mettle of “Idol” hopefuls and significantly trims the number of contestants. At least two episodes of the ABC reality series, on Monday, March 28, and Sunday, April 3, will be devoted to Hollywood Week.
