Consumers who bought their vehicles through American Car Center were left in limbo after the dealership closed all of its locations on Friday. In an email to employees, the company announced it was shutting down its operations and laying off all of its workers,The email came a day after the company pulled a $222 million bond sale from the market, as it had been working to improve liquidity and continue operations.
American Car Center had locations in Birmingham, Dothan, Florence, Huntsville, Montgomery, Pelham and Tuscaloosa, as well as two in Mobile, as well as 50 dealerships in 10 states. It cautioned that American Financial is not able to accept payments through a live representative.The company says customers may also pay by phone at 720-4477.
