🔴 Amazon workers at a distribution centre in Coventry will strike later this month – the first time the online retail giant’s workers have walked out in the UK
He said: “We’re on £10.50 now, so 50p extra was nothing. We were disgusted. When I complained to management, reminding them that while we worked for them throughout Covid Amazon shares went through the roof, their response was that I should have bought some shares myself.
They added: “Pay starts at a minimum of between £10.50 and £11.45 per hour, depending on location. This represents a 29 per cent increase in the minimum hourly wage paid to Amazon employees since 2018.” A source insisted there would be no disruption for Amazon customers, as the facility does not directly service customer orders. The warehouse is used to hold stock rather than customers’ orders being shipped from there.An Amazon spokesperson said: “We appreciate the great work our teams do throughout the year and we’re proud to offer competitive pay which starts at a minimum of between £10.50 and £11.45 per hour, depending on location.
“Employees are also offered comprehensive benefits that are worth thousands more—including private medical insurance, life assurance, subsidised meals and an employee discount, to name a few.”
