It is extremely rare for wild alligators to chase people, but they can run up to 35 mph, the agency indicates on its website.
Some users attributed the sighting in Missouri City to the animal's mating season. The season occurs March through May, where females tend to lay between 15 to 60 eggs in their nest mounds that are composed of grasses, cattails, bark, mud and other vegetation found in the area, Texas Parks and Wildlife's website states.
