A total of 59 current Conservatives have now said they will stand down at the next general election
MPs such as Kwasi Kwarteng, Ben Wallace and Dehenna Davison have all announced they will not stand at the next election Theresa May became the latest Tory MP to announce that she will not stand at the next election after 27 years in Parliament.
Eight of those who have announced they will not fight the next election have come since the start of 2024.
