The Cannes Film Festival isn’t just for actors! Models, journalists and other members of the film industry will all intermingle over the course of the festival, which runs until May 25. But why exactly are models at Cannes? The fashion industry has become an ever-growing presence at the French festival, with Chanel and Saint Laurent dipping their toes into the producing game.
Saint Laurent Productions, founded last year and helmed by creative director Anthony Vaccarello, will premiere three films at the 77th Cannes Film Festival: Emilia Perez, starring Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña; David Cronenberg’s The Shrouds; and Parthenope. Models have long attended Cannes for the amfAR Gala, which was founded by Elizabeth Taylor to raise money for AIDS research.
