The Times-Union selects its All-First Coast team for 2022 high school girls cross country in Northeast Florida, led by Bolles' Jillian Candelino.
Maybe, on paper, it didn't seem like Jillian Candelino had much more to accomplish in high school cross country."I kind of felt like I was on a roll," Candelino said."I love running, and I was doing what I love with my teammates."
Candelino became the first Jacksonville runner to win two individual girls cross country championships since Episcopal's Kara Scanlin in 1998 and 2001, and the first to go back-to-back since Episcopal's Donna Combs in 1982-83. She's now been a part of six state championship teams at Bolles, two on the track and four in cross country . And her own numbers keep improving, too: She also set a new personal record this year of 17:16.23, taking first place at the Alexander/Asics Invitational in Georgia.
