Which film is the best of the three?
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary Written and directed by Nia Vardalos, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 has been released in theaters, but it’s hard not to compare the third installment to the previous two films in the franchise — or rank them. When it comes to trilogies and franchises in general, audiences will always have a favorite film.
3 My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, which saw Gus researching his relation to Alexander the Great only to discover that he and Maria weren’t legally married. The sequel also introduces Toula and Ian’s 17-year-old daughter, Paris , whose life Toula is heavily involved in to the point of meddling. While these plot points may sound intriguing, the 2016 film is a major letdown, especially as the follow-up to the original film.
2 My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 has its flaws for sure, and its story is often fragmented with too many subplots, but it's certainly a step above the second film. Its heartwarming moments are a bit more genuine than they are in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. The third movie also manages to honor not only Gus, but the late actor who memorably portrayed him as well.
