.aliciakeys kicked off the iHeartConcertOnFOX with a salute to first responders

released the single"Underdog" back in January, but she might as well have written it after the coronavirus pandemic struck the United States given its all-too-appropriate lyrics.

It was the perfect song to kick off the iHeart Living Room Concert for America on Sunday night , the at-home concert special hosted by Elton John that aired in place of the 2020 iHeartRadio Music Awards. Following an intro from John, viewers saw Keys sitting at her home piano. "This song is like a prayer," Keys said as she played the song's opening notes."I hope that we remember how resilient we are and how we defy the odds. I'd like to dedicate this song to all first responders and medical professionals that are risking their life to keep us safe. We're so grateful."

In addition to the song's original lyrics shouting out"student doctors" and"single mothers waiting on a check to come," Keys added some new lyrics to put a spotlight on first responders and"people on the frontlines knowing they don't get to run." Sunday night's concert -- which is raising money for Feeding America and other charities supporting victims of the coronavirus crisis -- also includes performances from Billie Eilish and Finneas, Backstreet Boys and more.
